Green Beans

A very simple but tasty way to prepare green beans.

Green Beans

  • Servings: 4 servings

Green beans belong to the same family as popular ornamental plants such as morning glories. Green beans are members of the Fabaceae family, also known as the Leguminosae family, which includes a wide variety of plants, ranging from food crops to beautiful flowering vines and shrubs.


  • 1 lb green beans, ends removed
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • a pinch of salt


  • Place chicken stock in medium sized saucepan. Bring to simmer.
  • When simmering, place green beans in pot and cover. Let cook 5 minutes, or until just tender.
  • Remove and sprinkle with salt. Serve.

  • Alternate Version: Drop green beans into ice water. Drain. Saute a minced shallot in a little oil. Toss in green beans and saute until warmed through.
