The Paloma is a classic Mexican cocktail usually made with lime juice, tequila and grapefruit soda. This version, created by Scott Baird for Comal in Berkeley, takes a twist with smoky mezcal, fresh grapefruit juice and Cocchi Americano, a sweet Italian aperitif wine.

Ingredients

  • 1 measure lime juice
  • 1 measure tequila
  • 1 measure grapefruit soda
  • 1 measure smoky mezcal
  • 1 measure fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 measure Cocchi Americano

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
  • Shake well and strain into a glass.
  • Garnish with a slice of grapefruit or lime, if desired.
